If you suffer from gum recession (wherein your gums pull away from your teeth and expose the roots, due to a loss of gum tissue) you’ve likely had more than one dental professional recommend you receive treatment for the problem.
If you let gum recession go to the point that your roots are exposed, that can create gaps and pockets around your teeth. This is where bacteria that cause periodontitis (gum disease) and other serious medical conditions begin to grow. That’s why gum recession treatment is necessary.
Traditional gum recession treatment involves scalpels and sutures; however, here at OC Advanced Periodontics we offer a treatment for gum recession that’s minimally invasive and doesn’t use scalpels.
It’s called the Pinhole® Gum Treatment.
Let’s look at what that is.
The Pinhole® treatment was pioneered and patented by Dr. John Chao, DDS. It’s a very simple procedure that Dr. Patrick L. Huston, DDS, MSD is very proficient in.
The procedure begins with Dr. Patrick L. Huston, DDS, MSD poking a tiny, pin-sized hole in your gums near the point of recession. Then, special instruments are used to loosen and stretch your gums back to where they should be. This process completely eliminates the need for a gum graft, where tissue from healthy surrounding gums is taken and grafted into the areas of recession.
